ABOUT PHI KAPPA PSI

The Illinois Alpha chapter of Phi Kappa Psi is proud to be the oldest fraternity at Northwestern and the first Phi Kappa Psi chapter in Illinois. Since arriving at Northwestern in 1864, Phi Kappa Psi has been living out our motto, “the great joy of serving others.” Phi Kappa Psi is committed to building well-rounded young men who are community servants, campus leaders, and strive for academic excellence. Throughout this process, brothers form lifelong friendships and have the opportunity to make meaningful connections with our vast alumni network.

We believe that membership in Phi Psi shouldn’t limit but rather strengthen brothers’ involvement around Northwestern, Evanston, and the greater Chicago area. This is why you will see brothers involved in sports, the arts, nonprofits, religious clubs, part-time work, research, and preprofessional organizations.

As a national organization, Phi Kappa Psi believes in strong undergraduate leadership. Our national council consists of ten members, six of whom are undergraduate students. This unique system of self-governance allows brothers to represent their peers and voice any concerns at the national level.
