ABOUT PHI MU ALPHA

The Iota Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia at Northwestern was founded on April 26, 1910, and it is the oldest continuously-active chapter of Phi Mu Alpha. The membership of the chapter consists of Northwestern students in a wide range of majors, all of whom have an interest in music. All members of the chapter sing in the chapter choir, which performs at one recital in each quarter. The chapter choir also performs for the fraternity’s philanthropy, the Mills Music Mission, where members visit and sing at nursing homes and hospitals in order to uplift the residents.

Outside of chapter meetings and social events, members of Phi Mu Alpha participate in musical ensembles across campus, take leadership roles in other student groups, and excel academically. The chapter boasts hundreds of alumni working across a variety of disciplines, in and out of professional music, and has been recognized several times by the national fraternity for outstanding service and achievement.

They are dressed in casual sportswear and are holding a science or engineering project, which appears to be a tire or wheel with some written notes on it. Behind them, there is a blackboard, some classroom supplies, and a large screen displaying images of a man and a football player.
